O Sacred Head, Now Wounded by Bach (String Quartet)

Overview

Johann Sebastian Bach included the beautiful hymn “O Sacred Head, Now Wounded” (“O Haupt voll Blut und Wunden”) in his St. Matthew Passion, BWV 244, in 1727. This easy arrangement is a transcription of Bach’s original choral parts for string quartet. The last phrase or entire hymn may be used as an introduction when accompanying congregational singing. This transcription is dedicated to the public domain as of April 25, 2024 and may be freely performed, distributed, recorded, and modified. Soli Deo gloria
