A Mighty Fortress (Woodwind Quartet or Woodwind Quintet)

Overview

This easy and flexible arrangement is based on the SATB voice parts and works well for woodwind quartet or woodwind quintet. Optional parts are included to fit various ensembles; be sure to include a good balance of soprano (=hymn melody), alto, tenor, and bass lines.

For a standard woodwind quartet, use these parts:

• Flute = Play the Flute 1 Part (Soprano Line)
• Oboe = Play the Flute 2 Part (Alto Line)
• Clarinet = Play the Clarinet 3 Part (Tenor Line)
• Bassoon = Play the Bassoon Part (Bass Line)

For a standard woodwind quintet, use these parts:

• Flute = Play the Flute 1 Part (Soprano Line)
• Oboe = Play the Oboe Part (Soprano Line)
• Clarinet = Play the Clarinet 2 Part (Alto Line)
• French Horn in F = Play the French Horn in F 2 Part (Tenor Line)
• Bassoon = Play the Bassoon Part (Bass Line)

The piano reduction is optional and serves as a score. Optional music for choir or congregation with lyrics is also included. The last phrase or entire hymn may be used as an introduction when accompanying congregational singing. Soli Deo gloria
